The TEK 687 is Rochester Sensors' 916MHz RF ultrasonic tank level sensor — designed for sites where local radio frequency communication is the right fit. It transmits level data to an RF gateway (such as the TEK 608) on-site, which then forwards to Rivio's cloud platform for fleet-wide visibility.
The TEK 687 is a 916MHz RF ultrasonic sensor from Rochester Sensors. Rather than using cellular or LoRa, it communicates through a proprietary or standard RF protocol to a local gateway unit. This makes it well suited to yards, depots, and facilities where setting up a single gateway covers all tanks more cost-effectively than per-sensor cellular connections.
Short to medium range RF communication gives reliable local coverage across a depot or yard. Ideal where cellular or LoRa coverage is limited or not required.
Non-contact ultrasonic measurement from the tank top. Works with fuel, water, chemicals, and most non-pressurised liquids. No contact with tank contents.
The TEK 687 sends to an onsite RF gateway. The gateway then forwards to Rivio's cloud via an internet connection — one IP connection per site, many sensors.
RF sensors typically run on battery power for extended periods. The TEK 687's RF protocol is designed for efficient transmissions that preserve battery life.

Mounted on top of the tank, the TEK 687 takes ultrasonic level readings and transmits them over 916MHz RF to the local gateway.
The onsite RF gateway (e.g. TEK 608) receives from all TEK 687 sensors in range and forwards data to Rivio over a standard internet connection.
Every tank appears in the Rivio dashboard with live levels, fill history, alarm configuration, and consumption reporting — all from that one gateway connection.
Fleet fuel bays and distribution depots with many tanks in proximity — one RF gateway monitors all TEK 687 sensors across the yard.
Water storage tanks at manufacturing sites, treatment plants, and industrial facilities monitored via local RF without cellular subscriptions per tank.
Process chemical tanks on factory floors and plants where RF covers the building and a gateway aggregates all readings to Rivio.
Remote or shielded buildings where cellular signal is unavailable but local Wi-Fi exists — RF sensors to a gateway provide the same monitoring capability.
Tank farms and storage arrays where deploying a single RF gateway to cover many sensors is more cost-effective than per-sensor cellular or LoRa.
Accurate fill and consumption history for inventory control, purchasing decisions, and regulatory compliance — all automated through Rivio.
